Accenture HR interview questions and answers

11 Accenture HR interview questions with sample answers: why HR asks each one and how to answer. From public candidate reports. Free.

At Accenture the HR round is the last stage, after the cognitive and technical assessment, the coding round and the communication assessment. Candidates report it is usually a short conversation, roughly 15 to 30 minutes, done over video on Accenture's own platform, and the interviewer is typically an HR person rather than a developer. For freshers it often follows the same day or within a week of the technical rounds, and the final result can take several weeks.

What the Accenture HR round checks:

The first question is always some version of "tell me about yourself". Write your self introduction for the interview (free, no signup).

Accenture HR interview questions with answers

5 of these 11 questions appear in public Accenture interview reports; the rest are standard HR questions the company is known to ask.

1. Tell me about yourself. (reported)

Why they ask: It sets the tone and tells them whether you can speak clearly and structure your own story.

How to answer: Keep it to about a minute. Cover where you studied, one or two things you actually built, and why you are sitting in this interview. Do not list every subject you studied.

Sample answer: I am [your name], a final year student at [your college] in [your city], graduating in [year]. Most of my time went into Java and SQL, and I built a small inventory management project where I wrote the backend and the database queries. I also did a two month internship at [company name] where I fixed bugs in an existing web application. I am looking for a role where I can learn how large projects are actually built, which is why Accenture is my first choice.

2. Why do you want to join Accenture? (reported)

Why they ask: They want to hear a reason that is about Accenture, not a generic line about any IT company.

How to answer: Name something specific you know about Accenture, like its scale, its training programme or the kind of projects it runs, and connect it to what you want to learn. Avoid saying only that it is a big company.

Sample answer: Two reasons. First, the scale. Accenture works with clients across banking, retail and healthcare, so a fresher gets exposed to real enterprise systems early instead of one narrow product. Second, the training. People I spoke to who joined last year said the initial training on [technology you know] was structured and they were put on live projects within a few months. That is the kind of start I want, where I am learning on real work, not just theory.

3. Are you willing to relocate to any location in India? (reported)

Why they ask: Accenture staffs projects wherever the client is, so they need to know you will not refuse a posting later.

How to answer: Answer yes clearly if you mean it, and mention that you already thought about it when filling the application form. If you have a genuine constraint, say it now, not after the offer.

Sample answer: Yes, I am open to relocating anywhere in India. When I filled the application form I had to pick three preferred locations, and I chose [city one], [city two] and [city three], but those were preferences, not conditions. My family is supportive of me moving for work. I would rather be on a good project in a new city than wait for one near home.

4. Are you comfortable working in rotational shifts, including night shifts? (reported)

Why they ask: Many Accenture projects run support for overseas clients, so shift flexibility is a real requirement.

How to answer: Give a straight yes or no. If you say yes, back it with something practical, like having handled late study or work hours before. Do not say yes if you cannot do it.

Sample answer: Yes, I am comfortable with rotational shifts. During my final year project we had submission deadlines that kept us working late for a couple of weeks, and during my internship I sometimes had to coordinate with a team in a different time zone. I understand support projects need coverage across time zones. As long as the shift is planned and I know the schedule in advance, I can manage it.

5. Are you aware of the service agreement and are you willing to sign it? (reported)

Why they ask: They want no surprises later, since freshers are trained at cost and the agreement covers that.

How to answer: Say you are aware of it and ask them to confirm the exact duration and terms during the call. Do not quote a number you are not sure about.

Sample answer: Yes, I am aware there is a service agreement for freshers, and I am willing to sign it. I would just like to confirm the exact duration and the terms on the call so I am clear about it. I see it as a fair exchange, since the company invests in training me before I contribute. I am planning to stay and grow here, so the agreement is not a concern for me.

6. What is your expected salary?

Why they ask: For campus and fresher hiring the number is usually fixed, so they are checking whether you have realistic expectations.

How to answer: For a fresher role, say you understand the package is standard and you are fine with it. Only give a number if you are an experienced candidate and you have checked the market range.

Sample answer: For this role I understand the package is fixed as per the standard Accenture fresher band, so I am comfortable with whatever has been communicated. I am more focused on the learning and the project I get in the first year. If you want a number from me, I would rather hear the band first and then confirm it works for me.

7. Tell me about a time you worked in a team and there was a disagreement.

Why they ask: Service companies run on teams, and they want evidence you can handle friction without escalating everything.

How to answer: Pick one real incident, keep it short, and end with what you actually did to resolve it. The result matters more than the story.

Sample answer: In my final year project, four of us had to build [project name]. Two of us wanted to use [technology A] and the other two wanted [technology B]. We were stuck for two days. I suggested we each build a small proof of concept over a weekend and compare. [Technology A] was faster to set up and easier for the whole team to maintain, so we went with it. We finished on time and the disagreement actually made us evaluate the choice properly instead of guessing.

8. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Why they ask: They are checking self awareness and whether your weakness will be a problem on the job.

How to answer: Give one real strength with a small example, and one weakness that is not core to the job, plus what you are doing about it. Skip the fake weakness about working too hard.

Sample answer: My strength is that I am consistent with debugging. In my internship I spent three days tracing a data issue that turned out to be one wrong join, and I did not give up on it. My weakness is public speaking. I used to avoid presenting in college. I have been working on it by taking the presentation part in my project reviews, and it has got easier, though I still prepare more than most people before I speak.

9. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Why they ask: They want to hear a plan that keeps you at Accenture and in a technical or delivery track.

How to answer: Anchor it to the company. Talk about growing from a fresher into someone who owns a module or leads a small team, and mention a skill you want to build.

Sample answer: In five years I want to be someone the team trusts with a full module, not just assigned tasks. Realistically that means two or three years of strong delivery, then moving into a senior developer or module lead kind of role. I also want to go deeper in [technology you know], maybe get certified in it. I am not looking to jump around. I would rather build a track record here first.

10. Do you have any questions for us?

Why they ask: It shows whether you are actually thinking about the job or just waiting for it to end.

How to answer: Ask one or two practical questions about the next steps, the training or the project allocation. Do not ask about salary or leave policy at this stage.

Sample answer: Yes, two things. First, what are the next steps after this round and roughly when can I expect to hear back? Second, for freshers, how is the initial training structured and when does project allocation usually happen? I would like to prepare in the right direction before joining.

11. Why should we hire you?

Why they ask: It is a closing question to see if you can summarise your case without overselling.

How to answer: Match two or three things you have actually done to what the role needs. Keep it short and do not repeat your whole resume.

Sample answer: I will keep it to what I can back up. I have working knowledge of [technology you know] and SQL, and I have used both on a real project, not just in coursework. I am comfortable with the parts of this job that people find hard, like relocating and shift work, and I have said yes to those honestly. And I finish what I start. If you give me a module, I will not disappear on it.

What candidates report about the Accenture HR round

Service agreement. Candidates report a service agreement or bond for freshers, and the HR round is where they confirm you are willing to sign it. The exact amount and duration vary by offer, so confirm the current terms on the call rather than assuming a number.

Location preference. The application form asks you to select three preferred job locations, so decide these in advance. HR may ask whether you are open to any location in India.

Shift work. Rotational shifts, including night shifts, come up in the HR round because several Accenture projects support overseas clients. A clear answer is expected.

Interview platform. Candidates report interviews conducted on Accenture's own software, where you may not be able to navigate away from the call. Join the lobby about 15 minutes early and complete the system check.

Result timeline. The gap between the final round and the result can be long. One 2024 campus candidate reported the interview on 5 September and the result only on 28 September, so do not panic if there is silence.

Document and background checks. Commonly reported for large IT services firms, offer is followed by a background verification of marksheets, ID and previous employment. Keep originals and scanned copies ready.
